An Overview

The panda base is looked after by a professional organization that is specialised in the rescue and disease prevention in pandas. The preserve covers 760 acres with a total of 30 giant pandas and 5 red pandas.

Giant Panda Volunteer Programme

The giant panda volunteer programme is extensive in providing the communities with a deeper understanding of the mysterious creatures. The one-day programme involves activities such as cleaning up bamboo, the enclosures, observing and understanding the panda’s living conditions, learn about the processes involved in panda rescues, watch documentaries, prepare and feed them and plant bamboo in the reserve.

Requirements & Limitations

The centre only accepts 30 volunteers at one time between the ages of 12 and 65. You’re advised not to wear perfume or emit strong odours as pandas are extremely sensitive to smell. You should dress comfortably for a mountainous and outdoor area; in the summer the organisation will provide tee shirts and jumpsuits for summer and winter. You should also be healthy.
