Liulichang Culture Street- A walk down a vibrant street

If you are a Beijing traveller, you should not miss a visit to the Liulichang Street in China. This street is also known as the street of Coloured Glaze Factory. This is the ideal place for Chinese cultural curios, paintings, art works and calligraphy. This cultural street could be found quite easily since it is situated in Beijing towards the southern direction from the Xuanwu Peace Gate. Back in the history during the periods of the Yuan and Ming dynasties there had been a coloured Glaze Factory functioning and was a place that manufactures glazed tiles for colossal buildings like palaces, official residences and temples.
After the end of the Ming dynasty in 1644 began the Qing Dynasty which became famous for sellers and businessmen who began selling books and curios. With time, gradually the glazed factory was converted into a bazaar where paintings and other beautiful works of art including cultural artefacts belonging to the ancient Chinese dynasties were sold. The most important treasures for study, the writing brush, paper, ink slab, ink stick were to be bought from this street in Beijing. It lost its vibe after a few years and livened up again after renewing it in the year 1982. At present the street is lined up with residences decorated with grey bricks and tiles which have helped it to get a classical look throughout the street. This place has gained much attraction over the years among the tourists who are interested in ancient Beijing. Rongbaozhai is one of the famous book shops in the Liulichang cultural street and is a shop that dates back to the Qing Dynasty and specialized in the most quality stationary products.
Beijing Opera, Guanfu Classical Art Museum, Changdian Park and the Haiwangcun Park are some of the renowned places of the street.
