One of the most celebrated holidays in China, which is of great importance and value to the nation and its people is the National Day of China. Celebrated on the 1st of October each year, the National Day of China commemorates the formation of the People’s Republic of China, and is a day which inspires much patriotism and festivities amongst the people, especially in the city of Beijing.

Beijing being the capital city of China obviously has the most colourful and vibrant celebrations on the National Day. The entire city is decorated with traditional red Chinese lanterns, with the streets grandly decorated with red flags and other traditional decorations. The main highlights of the day take place at Tiananmen Square, which is visited by close to a quarter of a million people; here there are many parades and political rallies which emphasize the patriotism of the people of China. There are also flag raisings at Tiananmen Square and many other important locations in the city, which are also accompanied with many festivities.
