The Lama Temple – Peace is best found at a religious place

Lama Temple which is also popularly known as the Yonghe Temple or the Yonghe lamasery is a monastery which teaches Buddhism and located in Beijing China. It is one of the major places in the world which is considered as an institution for Tibetan Buddhism. The temple was built in the year 1694 and was the official house for monarchs during the Qing Dynasty. The temple is positioned down the north-south axis along a length of 480 meters and along this axis a visitor would find five halls which are encircled with beautiful courtyards. The five halls which make the Lama temple even more significant are, Devaraja -the Hall of the Heavenly Kings, Yongyoudian- Hall of Everlasting Protection, Yonghegong- Hall of Harmony and Peace, Falundian- Hall of the Wheel of the Law and Wanfuge- the Pavilion of Ten Thousand Happinesses. 

At the southernmost corner of the temple you would find the Hall of the Heavenly Kings which once served as the central entry way to the Yonghe Temple where in the centre stands a magnificent statue of the Maitreya Buddha surrounded by the four Heavenly Kings. The core building of the shrine is the foyer of Harmony and Peace where three bronze effigies of Buddhas of the three eras, Gautama Buddha the Buddha of the present era, Kasyapa Matanga Buddha of the past and Maitreya Buddha the future Buddha are placed along with the 18 Arahats. Also the hall is decorated with a mural of the Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara. 

Next in Line is the hall of Everlasting Protection which was Emperor Yongzheng’s residence and now holds the statue of the healing Buddha. The vestibule of the Wheel of the Law carries on the function of hosting religious ceremonies and reading scriptures. The last but not the least of all, the Pavilion of Ten Thousand Happinesses is the place which houses the 18 meters tall figurine of Maitreya Buddha. Lama Temple has become a famous tourist attraction over the years and carries a great significance.
